On GOD's remnant

Isaiah 10:21

King James Version

21 The remnant shall return,

even the remnant of Jacob,

unto the mighty God.

Who are the remnant of Israel?

How many would they be?

What kind of people are they?

These, we found from Scripture:

1 Kings 19:18

King James Version

18 Yet I have left me seven thousand in Israel

all the knees which have not bowed unto Baal

and every mouth which hath not kissed him.

Ezra 9:8

King James Version

8 And now for a little space

grace hath been shewed from the Lord our God

to leave us a remnant to escape,

and to give us a nail in his holy place,

that our God may lighten our eyes,

and give us a little reviving in our bondage.

Isaiah 1:7-9

King James Version

7 Your country is desolate,

your cities are burned with fire:

your land, strangers devour it in your presence,

and it is desolate, as overthrown by strangers.

8 And the daughter of Zion is left

as a cottage in a vineyard,

as a lodge in a garden of cucumbers,

as a besieged city.

9 Except the Lord of hosts

had left unto us a very small remnant,

we should have been as Sodom

and we should have been like unto Gomorrah.

Isaiah 10:20-23

King James Version

20 And it shall come to pass in that day,

that the remnant of Israel,

and such as are escaped of the house of Jacob

shall no more again stay upon him that smote them;

but shall stay upon the Lord,

the Holy One of Israel, in truth.

21 The remnant shall return,

even the remnant of Jacob,

unto the mighty God.

22 For though thy people Israel

be as the sand of the sea,

yet a remnant of them shall return:

the consumption decreed

shall overflow with righteousness.

23 For the Lord God of hosts

shall make a consumption,

even determined,

in the midst of all the land.

Isaiah 11:10-12

King James Version

10 And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse

which shall stand for an ensign of the people;

to it shall the Gentiles seek:

and his rest shall be glorious.

11 And it shall come to pass in that day,

that the Lord shall set his hand again the second time

to recover the remnant of his people,

which shall be left, from Assyria, and from Egypt

and from Pathros, and from Cush, and from Elam

and from Shinar, and from Hamath

and from the islands of the sea.

12 And he shall set up an ensign for the nations,

and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel,

and gather together the dispersed of Judah

from the four corners of the earth.

Isaiah 11:13-14

King James Version

13 The envy also of Ephraim shall depart,

and the adversaries of Judah shall be cut off:

Ephraim shall not envy Judah,

and Judah shall not vex Ephraim.

14 But they shall fly upon the shoulders

of the Philistines toward the west;

they shall spoil them of the east together:

they shall lay their hand upon Edom and Moab

and the children of Ammon shall obey them.

Isaiah 11:15-16

King James Version

15 And the Lord shall utterly destroy

he tongue of the Egyptian sea;

and with his mighty wind

shall he shake his hand over the river,

and shall smite it in the seven streams,

and make men go over dryshod.

16 And there shall be an highway

for the remnant of his people,

which shall be left, from Assyria;

like as it was to Israel

in the day that he came up

out of the land of Egypt.

Isaiah 28:3-5

King James Version

3 The crown of pride,

the drunkards of Ephraim,

shall be trodden under feet:

4 And the glorious beauty,

which is on the head of the fat valley,

shall be a fading flower,

and as the hasty fruit before the summer;

which when he that looketh upon it seeth,

while it is yet in his hand he eateth it up.

5 In that day shall the Lord of hosts be

for a crown of glory,

and for a diadem of beauty,

unto the residue of his people,

Jeremiah 23:3-4

King James Version

3 And I will gather the remnant of my flock

out of all countries whither I have driven them,

and will bring them again to their folds;

and they shall be fruitful and increase.

4 And I will set up shepherds over them

which shall feed them:

and they shall fear no more,

nor be dismayed,

neither shall they be lacking,

saith the Lord.

Joel 2:31-32

King James Version

31 The sun shall be turned into darkness,

and the moon into blood,

before the great and terrible day of the Lord come.

32 And it shall come to pass,

that whosoever shall call

on the name of the Lord

shall be delivered:

for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem

shall be deliverance,

as the Lord hath said,

and in the remnant

whom the Lord shall call.

Micah 2:12

King James Version

12 I will surely assemble, O Jacob, all of thee;

I will surely gather the remnant of Israel;

I will put them together as the sheep of Bozrah

as the flock in the midst of their fold:

they shall make great noise

by reason of the multitude of men.

Zephaniah 2:6-7

King James Version

6 And the sea coast shall be dwellings and cottages

for shepherds, and folds for flocks.

7 And the coast shall be

for the remnant of the house of Judah;

they shall feed thereupon:

in the houses of Ashkelon

shall they lie down in the evening:

for the Lord their God shall visit them,

and turn away their captivity.

Zephaniah 3:13

King James Version

13 The remnant of Israel

shall not do iniquity,

nor speak lies;

neither shall a deceitful tongue

be found in their mouth:

for they shall feed and lie down,

and none shall make them afraid.

Romans 9:27

King James Version

27 Esaias also crieth concerning Israel,

Though the number of the children of Israel

be as the sand of the sea, a remnant shall be saved:

Romans 11:1-5

King James Version

11 I say then, Hath God cast away his people?

God forbid. For I also am an Israelite

of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin.

2 God hath not cast away his people

which he foreknew.

Wot ye not what the scripture saith of Elias

how he maketh intercession to God against Israel saying,

3 Lord, they have killed thy prophets,

and digged down thine altars;

and I am left alone, and they seek my life.

4 But what saith the answer of God unto him?

I have reserved to myself seven thousand men,

who have not bowed the knee to the image of Baal.

5 Even so then at this present time also

there is a remnant

according to the election of grace.

Romans 11:23-24

King James Version

23 And they also,

if they abide not still in unbelief,

shall be grafted in:

for God is able to graft them in again.

24 For if thou wert cut out of the olive tree

which is wild by nature, and wert grafted

contrary to nature into a good olive tree:

how much more shall these,

which be the natural branches,

be grafted into their own olive tree?

Revelation 12:13-17

King James Version

13 And when the dragon saw

that he was cast unto the earth,

he persecuted the woman

which brought forth the man child.

14 And to the woman were given

two wings of a great eagle,

that she might fly into the wilderness,

into her place, where she is nourished

for a time, and times, and half a time,

from the face of the serpent.

15 And the serpent cast out of his mouth

water as a flood after the woman,

that he might cause her

to be carried away of the flood.

16 And the earth helped the woman,

and the earth opened her mouth,

and swallowed up the flood

which the dragon cast out of his mouth.

17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman,

and went to make war with the remnant of her seed,

which keep the commandments of God,

and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

The symbolic remnant

Deuteronomy 29:29

King James Version

29 The secret things belong unto the Lord our God:

but those things which are revealed

belong unto us and to our children for ever,

that we may do all the words of this law.

Since I know very little about GOD's remnant, I turn to Scripture.

That I may know more what "remnant" means.

I was pleasantly surprised that SPIRIT led me to these symbolic verses.

Truly a GOLD mine of information.

Further explaining how precious "remnants" are:

Exodus 26:12

King James Version

12 And the remnant that remaineth

of the curtains of the tent,

the half curtain that remaineth,

shall hang over the backside

of the tabernacle.

Leviticus 2:3

King James Version

3 And the remnant of the meat offering

shall be Aaron's and his sons':

it is a thing most holy

of the offerings of the Lord

made by fire.

Leviticus 5:13

King James Version

13 And the priest shall make

an atonement for him as touching his sin

that he hath sinned in one of these,

and it shall be forgiven him:

and the remnant shall be the priest's,

as a meat offering.

Leviticus 14:18

King James Version

18 And the remnant of the oil

that is in the priest's hand

he shall pour upon the head of him

that is to be cleansed:

and the priest shall make

an atonement for him

before the Lord.

Ezra 3:8

King James Version

8 Now in the second year of their coming

unto the house of God at Jerusalem,

in the second month,

began Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel,

and Jeshua the son of Jozadak,

and the remnant of their brethren

the priests and the Levites,

and all they that were come out

of the captivity unto Jerusalem;

and appointed the Levites,

from twenty years old and upward,

to set forward the work of the house of the Lord.

Whether it be the "remnant" curtain, trespass offering, oil, or priests and Levites, they are considered "holy", and used as an offering to the LORD.

In Nehemiah's case, he comes upon the remnant of the Jews from captivity, and the broken-down walls of Jerusalem

Nehemiah 1:3

King James Version

3 And they said unto me,

The remnant that are left

of the captivity there in the province

are in great affliction and reproach:

the wall of Jerusalem also is broken down,

and the gates thereof are burned with fire.

He gathers, and organizes the people, to rebuild it.

Nehemiah 2:18

King James Version

18 Then I told them of the hand of my God

which was good upon me;

as also the king's words that he had spoken unto me.

And they said,

Let us rise up and build.

So they strengthened their hands

for this good work.

There is beauty in "remnants".

GOD never wastes anything.

Everything is for His perfect purpose.

As will be shown in what He calls His remnant.

Which you'll find on the next post.

The word remnant

Exodus 26:12

King James Version

12 And the remnant that remaineth

of the curtains of the tent,

the half curtain that remaineth,

shall hang over the backside

of the tabernacle.

Early in school, we were taught the word "remnant".

At least, in a subject called "Practical Arts".

Wherein we were taught how to sew, knit, and do crafts.

We were taught to collect remnants of old fabrics.

We'd stitch, or crochet them at four ends, creating center pieces.

Now, if you were really diligent, you can even make a table cover.

Or a bed cover.

All because of those "remnants".

When I was blessed to have a shop of my own in the mid-90s, I looked to the remnants again.

I collected scraps of handwoven cloth, had these sewn to form a long curtain.

Which beautifully draped my shop's fitting room.

People loved the idea, and even bought the curtain.

It was actually one of the last items I would sell, for I loved "scraps".

I found scraps to have character.

In my economical mind, I don't want to waste a thing.

GOD, who created us, had a fantastic brain.

Imagine how He created.

Remember our composition?

That's why He wants to save everyone.

2 Peter 3:9

King James Version

9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise,

as some men count slackness;

but is longsuffering to us-ward,

not willing that any should perish,

but that all should come to repentance.

Only thing, many are willful, and hard-hearted.

But it's all been prophesied, you see.

All this blindness of Israel.

And the future of Gentiles.

In accordance with GOD's plan of salvation.

Romans 11:25

King James Version

25 For I would not, brethren,

that ye should be ignorant of this mystery,

lest ye should be wise in your own conceits;

that blindness in part is happened to Israel,

until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.

Everything will even out, according to GOD's plan.

We shared the verses on "The LEVANT prophecy", on what will happen to Judah, and Jerusalem, for their idolatry.

We also shared the verses showing GOD's wrath, upon those who oppress Israel.

And yet, GOD has saved a remnant:

Zephaniah 3:13

King James Version

13 The remnant of Israel

shall not do iniquity, nor speak lies;

neither shall a deceitful tongue be found

in their mouth:

for they shall feed and lie down,

and none shall make them afraid.

I haven't really looked into the "remnant", till now.

SPIRIT fed me the idea last night.

Now, we're creating this 100th blog.

I am my own first student.

I check, counter-check, and then share with you.

Most of all, I pray to know, to understand, and for clarity.

JESUS always sends an answer.

Through a verse, or verses.

Even a whole chapter.

Scripture has all the answers.

Merriam-Webster defines "remnant" as:

: a usually small part, member, or trace remaining

: a small surviving group —often used in plural

And so shall it be.

Israel will have her remnant.

According to GOD's will.

Now, we turn to symbolism.

How Old Testament "remnants" were put to good use by GOD.

Turn to this next post.

The prophesied remnant

Micah 2:12

King James Version

12 I will surely assemble, O Jacob, all of thee;

I will surely gather the remnant of Israel;

I will put them together as the sheep of Bozrah,

as the flock in the midst of their fold:

they shall make great noise

by reason of the multitude of men.

Welcome to our 100th blog!

The SPIRIT of GOD has been teaching me, 53 months now.

Last night, He put it in my heart to create a blog on the "remnant".

Those reserved by GOD, for Himself.

The remnant of Israel, saved from His wrath.

Out of curiosity, I looked at the number 100 on "Scripture Numerics".

It stood for:

"GOD's ELECTION OF GRACE...CHILDREN OF PROMISE"

So, I slept over it.

Hoping to get better understanding in the morning.

True enough, SPIRIT led me to this particular verse, which seemed fitting for this new blog:

Romans 11:5

King James Version

5 Even so then at this present time also

there is a remnant

according to the election of grace.

It all ties up.

It's all about GRACE.

How, through GOD's GRACE, this remnant is saved.

Israel is not finished.

Despite her rebelliousness, and blindness.

Despite her many iniquities against GOD.

GOD chose her, for His own perfect purpose.

Deuteronomy 7:7

King James Version

7 The Lord did not set his love upon you,

nor choose you, because ye were more

 in number than any people;

for ye were the fewest of all people:

He made His covenant with her.

Everything about her has been prophesied.

Who are we to question GOD's will, and ways?

I tremble at the thought of ever doing that.

Precisely why I write, to tell you what Scripture says.

We have these blogs to support my findings, through SPIRIT.

Israel is such a tiny nation.

Who would ever have thought of pounding upon such a nation?

And yet, she is surrounded by ancient enemies.

On all fronts, too.

A David, against Goliaths.

Remarkable how she survives.

Again, only through GOD's GRACE.

If only both Jew, and Gentile, would read the Bible.

If only they'd turn to GOD.

If only they'd become born again.

Only then will they truly see.

SPIRIT will make them see.

What I, a former Catholic, has seen.

That destroying Israel is futile.

Only GOD who creates, can destroy.

The sooner we accept that, the sooner the peace.

But like I said, everything has been prophesied.

The remnant, the enemies, the Rapture, the end times.

Now, all we wait is for the rest of Scripture to be fulfilled.

One helpful article is the last one we created, before this new blog:

"The LEVANT prophecy"

That was the springboard for this 100th blog.

There is a remnant.

And that's what we will explore.

As always, through the precision of GOD's WORD.

The next post tells us more what the word "remnant" means.
